Avish Khebrehzadeh at Albertina Museum, Wien

From December 11, 2025 until March 22, 2026, Avish Khebrehzadeh is among the protagonists of the group show The Fascination of Paper.  From Rembrandt to Kiefer at Albertina Museum of Wien, presenting the installation called Distant Memory I (for which she was awarded a Golden Lion for the best Young Italian Artist at the Venice Biennale in 2003), consisting of the eponymous video animation and the two-part drawing Sleepers, which serves as a projection surface.

Covering multiple eras from the 15th century to the present, the presentation brings together works from the Graphic Art Collection, the Architectural Collection, and the Collection of Contemporary Art. Copperplate engravings for playing cards, multi-part three-dimensional objects of monumental proportions, and rarely shown works reveal the entire range of this one-of-a-kind collection and artistic genre. In the process, surprising juxtapositions vividly illustrate paper’s versatility as a medium.
